Founded by Vaughan Drinkard, Jr., in 1977, Drinkard & Barber, P.C. has been a cornerstone of estate planning expertise in Mobile, AL, and the surrounding areas for over four decades. What began as a small practice with a passion for helping families avoid probate has grown into a full-service law firm committed to providing comprehensive legal solutions tailored to each client’s unique needs.
Vaughan Drinkard, Jr. is a native of Mobile, Alabama. He is the founding partner in the law firm of Drinkard & Barber, P.C. where he practices in the field of trusts, estates, and probate. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Springhill College in 1973, and his Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from Birmingham School of Law in 1977. He began practicing law in Alabama in 1977.
While still a second year law student, Mr. Drinkard prepared his first trust for his grandfather, who “wanted to avoid probate court”. Since that first trust document, he has prepared hundreds of trusts for clients across Alabama who not only wanted to avoid the costly probate court process, but also wanted to take advantage of the other benefits of the revocable living trust. While he enjoys the challenge and complexity of estate planning for high net worth individuals, he has an equal passion for preparing trusts for hard-working families who want to care for themselves and their loved ones.
He married Linda Roan in 1972, and the couple have two daughters and five grandchildren. He remains active in church, legal and civic organizations. Mr. Drinkard is a certified Master Gardener who designed and created a local community garden where he often teaches seminars on grafting and other topics of horticultural interest.
Tara Drinkard Barber is a partner in the firm of Drinkard & Barber, P.C. Mrs. Barber received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Spring Hill College in 1996 followed by her Juris Doctorate from Loyola University in 2000.
While in law school, Mrs. Barber focused her studies in the areas of trusts and estate planning. Years of hands-on experience have made her one of the “go to” sources for clients and colleagues throughout the Southeast for matters related to these areas.
Mrs. Barber is a member of both the Alabama and Mississippi Bar Associations. She is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in both Alabama and Mississippi.
Mrs. Barber married Dr. Matthew Barber in 2002 and together they have three children. As a strong advocate for social justice and an end to human trafficking, she serves on the Board of Directors of Roads of Hope, Inc., a locally-based and internationally active non-profit organization.
